'Wonderful mix' of items consigned at busy valuation morning in Lichfield

RICHARD Winterton enjoyed a busy valuation morning in Lichfield city centre this week.

Richard was at The Auction Café from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 13.

During those three hours he saw 19 clients who brought along a huge range of antiques and collectables for free evaluation.

Consignments included a signed woodcut by Bohemian artist Carl Theodor Thiemann, valued at £1,200 to £1,500, and two gilt repeater carriage clocks, each expected to make £1,000 to £1,200 at auction.

Other finds included a Breitling Navitimer chronograph from 2004, complete with original box and paperwork including an instructional wheel explaining how to use the watch's iconic slide rule bezel.

Also consigned were two historic books on Constantinople, a Susie Cooper vase, a WW1/WW2 officer's military compass, a piece of Swedish glass, a novelty silver cane top and an inlaid wooden domino set.

"What a fab morning at The Auction Café, with a wonderful mix of items consigned," said Richard.

"I'll be back next month but we have valuations every Tuesday and Wednesday so come on down, have a coffee and bring your items for us to have a look at."

The Auction Café at 34 Market Street is open seven days a week, from 9am-4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sundays, offering speciality coffee, tea, soft drinks, ice cream, cakes, cream teas, pastries, toasties, bagels and savoury snacks seven days a week in comfortable air-conditioned surroundings.

Seating is also available outside on Lichfield's historic Market Street.

Inside the premises, free valuations of jewellery, watches, gold and silver take place on Tuesdays between 9.30am and 3pm.

Each Wednesday throughout the month sees a different specialist offering valuations from 9.30am-12.30pm and Richard will be back on Wednesday, September 24.
