AN impressive collection of classic Japanese Role-Playing Games goes to auction in Lichfield later this month.

The haul of 29 JRPG games, mainly PlayStation with some Nintendo, go under the hammer at The Lichfield Auction Centre on July 21.

Highlights include Castlevania Symphony Of The Night from 1997 – the European PAL version including audio CD and art book, guided £250 to £350.

The North American NTSC version also features elsewhere in the sale.

Also up for grabs are Persona 1 from 1996, guided £150 to £200, and Persona 2 from 2000, guided £130 to £180.

"These are very popular games but they initially didn’t get big until Persona 3 came out," said a spokesperson for Richard Winterton Auctioneers.

"Therefore these earlier games are significantly rarer and they are also NTSC region as they didn'y come out in Europe."

Also under the hammer are Suikoden I, guided at £40 to £60, and Suikoden II, guided £60 to £80 – both now highly regarded games which didn’t sell well at the time.

In total the sale features 29 games with four factory sealed, which include the Nintendo DS game Final Fantasy Tactics A2.

The whole collection is valued at £1,000 to £1,500.

It was consigned to auction by a client from Somerset following a valuation via email.

"These are JRPG classics including prequels to some of the most loved games of all time and Suikoden II which is one of the best games ever," the spokesperson added.

"It’s a very impressive collection from someone who had very good taste in games."
