SPECIALIST Stuart Hay will be putting people in the picture with free valuations of cameras, optical instruments and pens in Lichfield city centre this month.

Stuart will be at The Auction Café by Richard Winterton Auctioneers at 34 Market Street from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 27.

A recent collection of fountain and ballpoint pens sold at The Lichfield Auction Centre for a total hammer price of £3,010.

The collection included special edition, Chinese New Year and Star Wars pens by Cross; fountain, ballpoint and rollerball pens by Sheaffer; and other examples by Waterman, Parker and Dunhill.

"There is a strong market at auction for all types of pens and mechanical pencils, with other popular brands including Montblanc, Montegrappa, Platinum, Swan, Mabie Todd, Namiki and Pilot," said Stuart.

Stuart will also be offering free valuations of antique, vintage or modern cameras, lenses and optical instruments and equipment.

"Again, this is an arena which has a strong following at auction, with serious collectors and hobbyists from all over the world taking an interest in our catelogues," said Stuart.

"Popular brands include Leica, Hasselblad, Nikon, Canon, Reid and Sigrist, Zeiss, Olympus, Zenza Bronica, Kodak, Pentax, Mamiya, Voigtlander and Swarovski.

"Whether it's cameras, lenses, telescopes, microscopes, binoculars or fountain pens, I'm looking forward to discovering some interesting instruments.

"If your collection or item is too big to take along with you, please bring some photographs and we will do our best to help.”

The Auction Café is open seven days a week, from 9am-4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sundays, offering speciality coffee, tea, soft drinks, ice cream, cakes, cream teas, pastries, toasties, bagels and savoury snacks seven days a week in comfortable air-conditioned surroundings.

Seating is also available outside on Lichfield's historic Market Street.

Inside the premises, free valuations of jewellery, watches, gold and silver take place on Tuesdays between 9.30am and 3pm and each Wednesday throughout the month sees a different specialist offering valuations from 9.30am-12.30pm.
