Beatles Autographs From 1963 Sold £1,900

John, Paul, George and Ringo in 1963

AUTOGRAPHS of all four Beatles signed for a fan in the early 1960s have sold at auction in Lichfield for £1,900.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr signed the photograph of the group – with Starr also writing a personal dedication at the top – before a Midlands gig at the beginning of Beatlemania.

The vendor, 74-year-old Chris Barrows, said his late brother Phil acquired the autographs whilst at the Coventry Theatre in 1963 with their father Ron, Steinway’s chief piano tuner for the Midlands area.

His photo, signed on the front by John Lennon and Ringo Starr, and on the reverse by George Harrison and Paul McCartney, was also inscribed by Starr “To Philip best wishes from the Beatles” written in blue ink at the top of the picture.

The signed photo sold at The Lichfield Auction Centre, Wood End Lane, Fradley Park, with Richard Winterton Auctioneers on Monday, September 29, for a hammer price of £1,900.
