Stunning cellarful up for auction

Stunning cellarful up for auction

WE have another stunning cellarful of wine, whisky and port coming up in June’s Fine & Decorative Arts Sale, writes Rob French.

Lots 493 and 494: 1963 Taylor’s vintage port

An amazing eight bottles of this legendary 1963 vintage across two lots, with four bottles per lot, this Taylor’s port was shipped and bottled by the famous wine merchants Hedges & Butler Ltd of London. The bottle labels are in a disintegrated state due to over 40 years of cellaring but the seals are intact and there appears to be no sign of seepage; ullage is consistent with the year. Handling port of this quality is a privilege which is amplified considerably by the knowledge that this is the first time these bottles have seen the light of day for more than 50 years! Est: £320 - £450 plus Buyer's Premium per lot

Lot 503: A magnum of Leroy Marc de Bourgogne

Now this is also something very special. A magnum of Leroy Marc de Bourgogne, Negociantes a Auxey Meursault Cote D’Or. This wine was made for the world famous Freres Troisgros, restaurateurs a Roanne, France, consistently voted among the top 25 restaurants in the world and winners of World's Best Wine List by Wine Spector Magazine in 1997 and 1998. This wine here we estimate dates back to the 1970s, it is boxed and comes with a book The Nouvelle Cuisine of Jean and Pierre Troigros signed by the authors to the vendor. Amazing! Est: £150 - £250 plus Buyer's Premium

Lot: 519: The Macallan 18-year-old single malt whisky

What more do you need to say, really? One of the legendary Scotch whiskies. This example of The Macallan single Highland malt whisky was distilled in 1974 and bottled in 1992. 43% vol. 70cle, fill level mid neck. Est: £1,000 - £1,500 plus Buyer's Premium
