Signed limited edition LS Lowry prints sell for £6,200 in Lichfield auction

Iconic 'matchstick' figures

THREE signed limited-edition prints by celebrated artist LS Lowry have sold for £6,200.

Richard Winterton Auctioneers' Antiques & Home Sale today, Monday, January 19, featured the trio which was consigned from a client’s private collection.

This Wednesday, January 21, pictures specialist David Fergus will be at The Auction Café in Lichfield offering free valuations from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

In today's auction, Lot 748, a signed limited edition print of 'Ferry Boats', pictured above, sold at £2,200.

Depicting figures waiting to board ferries, the print was published in 1972 by Venture Prints from an edition of 500 and features a blind stamp to the lower margin.

Lot 749, a signed limited edition print of 'On The Sands', pictured above, made £2,300.

Depicting Lowry's iconic 'matchstick' figures on a beach at low tide, the piece was signed and numbered 181/500 to the lower margin.

Lot 750, a signed limited edition print of 'Landscape With Farm Buildings', pictured above, sold at £1,700.

Depicting figures in a landscape setting and signed with a blind stamp to the lower margin, the work was published in 1974 by Venture Prints from an edition of 850.

Laurence Stephen Lowry (1887-1976) is celebrated for his evocative depictions of industrial scenes, urban landscapes and working class life in the mid-20th century.

In August 2025, a signed limited edition Lowry print of a lost Burton landmark went under the hammer with Richard Winterton Auctioneers for £1,700.

Bearing the Fine Art Trade Guild blind stamp, 'The Level Crossing, Burton-on-Trent', pictured above, was one of 850 published in 1973 by Henry Donn.
