Preview: National cash register and Merch V-twin engine in Lichfield auction

AN ANTIQUE brass cash register and a rebuilt motorcycle engine will go under the hammer with Richard Winterton Auctioneers on Tuesday, May 27.

The sale at The Lichfield Auction Centre starts at 9am and you will be able to view the catalogue online a week before via our Auction Calendar.

In the meantime, here's a sneak preview.

Lot 53 A Merch V-twin motorcycle engine

Rebuilt and rebored to 2100cc (128 cubic inch) with a S&S Super carburettor and filter cover and an Arlen Ness oil pressure gauge. The engine was rebuilt in 2005 but never fitted and stored in the vendor's living room.

Lot 173 An antique brass cash register

Made by National Cash Register Co., Dayton, Ohio, USA, circa 1900, with ornate scrolled and foliate decorations. It has a raised sign reading 'amount purchased', glass number viewer and a hinged lid enclosing an internal key and number dials. The front price levers sit above a small marble shelf with the cash drawer below.

A vintage ebonised countertop cabinet for Fry's Milk Chocolate.

Lot 172 A vintage Cadbury's cabinet

A Cadbury's Chocolate countertop display cabinet with rear double sliding glass doors enclosing two glass shelves.

The sale takes place at The Lichfield Auction Centre on May 27 and starts at 9am.
