Preview: 1980s toys, McDonald's rarities, die-cast and trains in Tamworth auction

A WAVE of nostalgia accompanies Richard Winterton Auctioneers' next sale at Tamworth, with a huge collection of vintage 1980s toys and 1990s fast food-related items going under the hammer.

Taking place at The Tamworth Auction Rooms on Wednesday, June 25, the sale starts at 9.30am and the catalogue can be viewed online here.

A number of lots feature evocative toys dating back to the eighties including Hasbro My Little Pony figures, playsets, buildings and accessories – the auction includes late 1990s and early 2000s My Little Pony figures, too.

There are a number of McDonald's Happy Meal Translite display signs with promotional tie-ins to Barbie, Hot Wheels, Disney and Route 66, to name but a few.

Further MacDonald's items include Disney collectable toys, a huge range of Happy Meal toys, Snoopy collectables, LEGO system sets and even vintage flatpacked children's meal boxes and fast food drinks cups and lids relating to TV, film and collectable brands.

Other evocative curiosities are vintage PEZ dispensers and a large quantity of Ferrero Kinder and Nestle 'magic ball' toys.

The sale also features Palitoy Pippa and Friends dolls, Disney-related collectables, Star Wars toys, Action Man, Scalextric, LEGO, Tonka toys, Mamod, collectable DC and Marvel figures, WWF models and vintage die-cast including Corgi, Matchbox and Dinky.

Trains featuring in the catalogue include locomotives and rolling stock from big names including Hornby, Mainline, Wrenn, Lima, Tri-Ang and Bachmann.

Lots 195 and 196 are Roundhouse G scale butane-fired remote control locomotives.

The sale also includes a large array of cameras and optical equipment plus medals and militaria.

Viewing in person takes place at The Tamworth Auction Rooms on Tuesday, June 24 from 10am to 4pm.
