Marvel-lous collection of 1960s comics soars at Lichfield auction

A SUPER collection of 1960s comics has totalled £9,645 at auction in Lichfield.

The impressive line-up of mostly Marvel comics went under the hammer with Richard Winterton Auctioneers today (Monday, September 29).

Highlights included a collection of The Amazing Spider-Man Marvel comics, pictured above, selling at £1,900.

A collection of X-Men comics sold at £1,300 and another lot featuring Avengers comics made £700.

Catalogued across more than 50 lots following an initial valuation enquiry via email, the comics were all bought contemporaneously by a Tamworth man who enjoyed them in his youth and have subsequently been carefully stored in a loft for many years.

They feature iconic superheroes including Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Silver Surfer, X-Men, The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Sub-Mariner, Doctor Strange, Daredevil and Thor.
