Lichfield Garrick to provide free Warm Space with sponsored hot drinks
THE Lichfield Garrick Theatre is offering the Green Room café as a Warm Space this winter. The Lichfield-based arts charity will open the doors seven days a week from 10am-5pm every day (excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) from Monday, November 7, until Friday, March 31 2023 as a 'warm and friendly space' for people to spend their daytime without the expectation of spending money.
Tea and coffee will be provided free of charge, thanks to support from Richard Winterton Auctioneers.
The scheme is partly funded by Lichfield City Council, which has offered grants to local venues to provide safe and welcoming spaces for anyone to use, get warm, and enjoy some company.
Matt Clay, the Garrick's interim executive manager, said: "People from all backgrounds are concerned about the rising costs of food, fuel, and energy.
"Everyone is welcome to the warm space at the Garrick to spend some time with us and ease their worries a little.
"We are very grateful to Lichfield City Council and Richard Winterton Auctioneers for helping make this happen.”
There will also be the option to purchase food from a discounted menu during the Warm Space opening hours.
For the first time since before the Garrick’s Covid-19 closure, the Green Room will also be open as a café during the same hours for anyone not using the Warm Space.
Please note that when the building is open during performances, free drinks and games cannot be offered but people are still welcome to use the space to sit.
