Designs on a fab furniture sale
THIS June we have a selection of furniture ranging from George III 18th century to modern mid-20th century design in our Fine & Decorative Arts Sale, writes Tom Winterton.
Lot 594: Kai Kristiansen for Korup Stolefabrik
This 1960s teak double extending dining table by Kai Kristiansen for Korup Stolefabrik is superb. To each end is a pull-out slide for an extra leaf; extended it stretches to 244cm from 152cm. The table comes with a set of six ladderback chairs covered with black vinyl upholstery. Kai Kristiansen is a top name; it’s always reliable and I just like it! Est: £300 - £500 plus Buyer's Premium
Lot 595: A Toothill teak sofa
Another piece of classic 1950s/1960s design, this Toothill Danish-style Afromosia teak daybed/sofa has a flip-over back and is flanked by a pair of attached extending side tables – genius! Est: £150 - £200 plus Buyer's Premium
Lot 320: Mouseman cheeseboard
This carved oak cheeseboard by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson has the trademark mouse on the handle. 38cm long, it’s a fabulously frivolous yet eminently usable piece by the Yorkshire craftsman whose furniture with cleverly carved mice is simply legendary! Est: £100 - £120 plus Buyer's Premium
