A HUGE collection of original vinyl including some of the world's most loved and influential records will rock Richard Winterton Auctioneers on Monday, May 19.
The sale at The Lichfield Auction Centre includes iconic releases from the 1960s and 1970s with legendary artists ranging from Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson and David Bowie to Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Who, Small Faces, Pink Floyd and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Here's some of the highlights:
Red and maroon labelled copies of Led Zeppelin (588 171, orange sleeve lettering, Warner Bros credits, mint condition); Led Zeppelin II (588 198, The Lemon Song credited to Page/Plant/Bonham/Jones); Led Zeppelin III (2401 002, 'Do what though wilt' and 'So mote it be' on run outs) and the untitled fourth album (2401 012 without Peter Grant credit and with concert ticket for Earls Court 1975 taped to inner sleeve); Houses of the Holy (K50014, A2/B2 matrix); Physical Graffiti (SSK 89400, first pressing); Presence (SSK 59402 first pressing); In Through The Out Door (SSK 58410, paper outer, type A sleeve) and The Song Remains the Same (SSK 89402, textured sleeve). All vinyl in excellent condition and sleeves very good to excellent condition.
Black Sabbath (VO6, no publisher credit in cross, large swirl label, no Philips text and Copyright Subsists under Stereo Record text); Paranoid (6360 011, large swirl label, 'Jim Simpson' management credit in gatefold sleeve); Master of Reality (6360 050, box cover, large swirl label, no poster); Vol. 4 (6360 071, no Made in England, gatefold sleeve with booklet, Porky/Pecko scratched into run out, concert ticket taped to inner sleeve); Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (WWA 005) and Sabotage (9119 001). All sleeves and vinyl EX+ condition.
In The Court Of The Crimson King (pink label matrixes ILPS 9111 A 2 1 2 7, B3); In The Wake Of Poseidon (ILPS 9127, pink i label, textured sleeve, A1 and B1 matrix); Lizard (ILPS 9141, palm tree pink rim, A2 and B2 matrix); Islands (ILPS 9175 palm tree label, fold out inner); Earthbound (HELP 6) and MacDonald and Giles (ILPS 9126, pink label, i logo). All vinyl excellent condition and all sleeves very good to excellent.
The sale takes place at The Lichfield Auction Centre on May 19 and starts at 9am.
Viewing in person takes place on Friday, May 16, from 10am-4pm.
