Auction highlights include a single-owner collection of coins totalling £286,845 at The Lichfield Auction Centre.

Other successes include a golden haul of coins put together by a Staffordshire collector which realised in excess of £100,000 and the ‘exceptional’ coin collection of a Tamworth ex-serviceman totalling a hammer price of £25,980.

A number of Isle of Man Christmas 50p coins sold online for a total hammer price of £9,640.

Also in the headlines was a collection of rare banknotes from Borneo and the Straits Settlements, which had been stored in a Midlands garage for five years before the vendor sought advice from Richard Winterton Auctioneers. Printed in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, the collection totalled £7,950 including a single 1922 British North Borneo Company $5 note which sold for £900.
