Preview: 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint FHC in Lichfield historic vehicles auction

THIS stunning 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint FHC is joing other historic vehicles going under the hammer with Richard Winterton Auctioneers this July.

The restored sports coupe in iconic red, gold and white is a superb example of a model which was the final and most developed version of the original two-seat Elan

Although mechanically derived from the Series 4, Lotus marketed the Sprint as a model in its own right rather.

A ‘nut and bolt’ restoration was carried out on the car going to auction in 1998.

It boast a 1558cc big valve petrol engine, dual Dellorto carburettors, Spyder sub-frame, four-speed manual gearbox and black vinyl bucket seats.

The same vendor is also offering a 1964 Austin-Healey ‘Frogeye’ assembly restoration project in need of completion, including chassis, body panels, engine, gearbox and other parts.

They join a 1974 Innocenti Mini Cooper in red with a black roof and a 1967 MG MGB in blue, all going under the hammer on Monday, July 27, starting at 9am.
