Meet our new vintage jewellery expert
Thursday, 05 July, 2018 - Modified on Wednesday, 18 July, 2018 at 9:28 am
RICHARD Winterton is delighted to welcome a new jewellery expert to his team.
Louise Ludlam-Snook is a specialist in vintage jewellery and will be offering free valuations at The Lichfield Auction Centre at Fradley Park on Fridays between 9.30am-4pm.
Louise will be casting her expert eye over gem jewellery, coral, amber, Victorian and Art Deco jewellery, modern designer items and costume jewellery, particularly that from the 1940s through to the 1960s.
She will also value accessories such as hatpins, hats and furs.
“People don’t always know what they’ve got and that’s where we can help,” said Louise.
“That’s what I like the most – sorting through boxes of items and finding the treasure!
“In my experience, people will bring items in and say ‘this is worth something’ and unfortunately it actually isn’t. But then there will be something else they were on the verge of discarding and that is the item that’s going to be of interest.”
She added: “A lot of things are inherited so people often aren’t aware of what is there. We can advise people on how best to proceed.”
Louise joins Richard Winterton’s team following ten years at Fellows Auctioneers, where she worked her way up from administration assistant to running her own vintage sale.
She has a BA Hons degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing from the University of Loughborough, has also worked in jewellery retail and gained her DGA and FGA from the Birmingham School of Jewellery.
Louise will be valuing vintage jewellery at The Lichfield Auction Centre at Fradley Park on Fridays between 9.30am-4pm.
Heather Callaway values fine jewellery, also at The Lichfield Auction Centre on Fridays between 9.30am-3.30pm.
