Horses Brasses and Tiles gallop away!

Wednesday brought the first day of our popular two day Antique, Home and Interiors Sale. With David Dickinson and his Real Deal team on site for filming, the saleroom was buzzing with excitement.

First up was the jewellery section, with many of the lots selling above their guides. The star of the section as lot 76 - a bracelet with five full sovereigns and one half sovereign - sold for £1,000.

Teawares are also a firm favourite at our auctions and this time lot 310, a set of Royal Albert 'Heirloom' tea / coffee wares whet the bidders appetite and sold for an impressive £340.

Next up, our miscellaneous household section. This is a popular section which always has our bidders rummaging through the lots with great intrepidation. Lot 225, a box of various horse brasses and irons sold for a staggering £750, following competition between two online bidders.

To round off the sale, we were delighted to offer a single owner collection of decorative tiles. Consigned in its entirety from a local vendor, the various dust pressed tiles dated from the late 1800's onwards and were are not only in generally good condition but also showed the themes the collector followed. The tiles tell a story, whether mythological or factual - the vibrant colours are as clear now as they were when produced over 150 years ago - and gave an insight into everyday living and beliefs, as well as the hopes and dreams of the subjects. The collection of in excess of one hundred tiles was catalogued into sixty plus lots and attracted interest both in the room and on online. Fierce competition over the lots saw them sale past their guide, with the total collection selling for £6,500.

The next two day sale will be held on 17th and 18th February at the Lichfield Auction Centre in Fradley Park. Entries are invited.
