HOUDINI ESCAPES AUCTION AT £750

Harry Houdini (1874-1926) lived up to his old tricks by making a spectacular escape, this time from beyond the grave at a local auction.

A portrait postcard of the said ‘Master of Mystery’ appeared in the Collectors Sale held at Richard Winterton’s last week. Postcards dating form the early twentieth century are highly collectable in all forms, but signed portraits of past celebrities are particularly sought after and valuable. It was signed in ink by the man himself rather aptly ‘Good Luck, Houdini’ and discovered amongst a consignment from a local estate. Mysteriously, no further information is known as to whom and when the card was obtained, this information being lost in the passage of time.

It generated much international pre-sale interest and one lucky bidder on the phone paid £750 to secure this slice of the Houdini legend.
