All items are sold at The Lichfield Auction Centre, a modern saleroom which caters for all aspects of the Auction World - from household effects to Fine Art, cars to medals. Whatever we find it's to your benefit, even if you are not sure what you have. 'It's better to safe than sorry'. Our qualified experts are on hand to offer their advice and up to date market knowledge.
We offer complete and part house clearance services, emptying the house of all/part of the contents, properly disposing of all that cannot be sold and clearing the property afterwards, ensuring that it is clean and tidy for the new occupants. This includes items which do not meet current fire / electrical regulations.
We can also recommend a cleaning company if you require it to be 'spotless' before selling or renting.
Paperwork
Full paperwork is provided, and we can arrange for any additional copies or correspondence that you may require for other family members/executors/solicitors etc.
Valuations
We work closely with Solicitors, and our professional staff can provide full valuations in order to assist with the closing of estate and the disposal of general household items and full house contents on behalf of clients.

Our initial advice is free of charge, so do not be afraid to call us, 'know the price before you sell'. Quotes for house clearances are given on an individual basis based on timings and logistics.

PROBATE VALUATIONS
The Richard Winterton name is synonymous with providing an efficient, professional and confidential service to executors of deceased’s estates.
Duplicate, clear and concise documents, (listing any specific bequests where applicable) are provided usually within seven days of the initial visit.
Items of value can be removed swiftly to our safe storage and properties can be cleared including all items for auction and items of no value.

Property Auctions
By prior agreement, we will be pleased to carry out marketing and property auctions individually or in association with an estate agent.
Advice on Buying and Selling
Advising clients on buying and selling is part of our remit where impartiality and confidentiality is paramount.
FEES
Seller/Vendor: £5-10 entry fee per Lot (sold/unsold) and then 15% thereafter per Lot for monthly Antique, Twentieth Century & Collectors sales. £10-20 entry fee per Lot (sold/unsold) and then 15% thereafter per Lot for Fine Art/Collectors’ Sales. (All fees are subject to VAT at the current rate)
Then 15% thereafter per Lot once sold. Note: All Fees include insurance, processing, photography, live internet sales, marketing etc.
Withdrawn Lots: The fee for cancelling a sale/withdrawal of goods prior to sale is £25 minimum, 7.5% of our estimated value or the reserve price whichever the greater. This applies to each Lot entered.
Buyer: 15% (+VAT) on the hammer price per Lot purchased. Note: An additional 3% applies to live internet bids via ATG Media.
Packing & Shipping
We are happy to advise on the packing/shipping of Lots purchased in our sales. We offer a packing/postal service for most smaller Lots at our discretion, (additional charges may apply and a disclaimer needs to be signed). We reserve the right to decline to pack large/fragile/valuable Lots.

Insurance & Formal Valuations
Like any commodity over a period of time, values can change dramatically. It is especially important to be aware of the current value of your property so you can relax in the knowledge that you are fully insured in the unfortunate event of loss or damage.
Inventories are set out in a clear and concise manner and duplicate copies are issued usually within seven days of the initial visit.
We offer our professional formal written valuation service for insurance, probate, tax, asset management and family division purposes at attractive rates based on an hourly charge.
We will contact you at agreed intervals to make any necessary updates.
Picture, Furniture & Clock Restoration
Over many years we have built up a professional relationship with a leading team of restorers/conservators of museum standard.
If referred through ourselves, we are able to obtain attractive quotes for the restoration/cleaning of all manner of clocks, oil paintings, watercolours and prints, (including cleaning, re-lining of oil pictures and the removal of foxing from prints).
We have an in-house French polishing service and additional furniture restoration is available upon request.
Research, Marketing & Press
All single and bulk items consigned to our sales are checked in-house by a dedicated team. Items that are deemed necessary are researched further by our own experts. This may, in certain circumstances involve calling in outside assistance, (eg a museum) to ensure our catalogue descriptions are as accurate, informative and as concise as possible. The additional costs incurred in doing so are normally included in the standard commission rates.
Our marketing strategy is vital to successful sales contributing to our high sold Lot rate. All consignments auctioned at Lichfield are advertised on the internet (images, descriptions and estimates) on key sites such as richardwinterton.com, Antiques Trade Gazette, the-saleroom.com, Invaluable and Artprice to mention a few. Specialist Sales such as Collectors and Fine Arts have the added benefit of live bidding facilities. Email catalogues and Fine Art Sale glossy catalogues are automatically sent out to our ever expanding database of thousands of active potential buyers worldwide.
We have long established contacts within the local, national and international press who are kept informed of past and upcoming auctions. Articles/press releases regarding latest news, Lots coming up or sale highlights regularly appear in the press.
Our auctions also feature regularly on popular television programmes such as Bargain Hunt, Dickinson’s Real Deal, Cash in the Attic, Feather Your Nest and Flog It.

We have our own in-house photographic facilities for marketing purposes.
