Richard Winterton
Richard Winterton’s family have been auctioneers in Staffordshire since the mid nineteenth century. Auctioneering is in his blood, a highly specialised skill of which Richard is a true professional. Joining the family business from a young age, Richard has excelled and has now taken over the reins. Along with his wife Janet, he is the proprietor of one of the most successful family run auctioneers in the UK. He has a particular interest in furniture.
Richard is also a celebrity, well known to many TV viewers through his ongoing appearances on programmes such as ‘Dickinson’s Real Deal’ and ‘Bargain Hunt’. He also carries out regular charity work such as talks and charity auctions.
Janet Winterton
Along with Richard, Janet set up the company in 1997 and has helped oversee it to be the highly respected company it is today. Janet is the first port of call for all the boxes to be unpacked and to send them on to all the different Fine Art & Antique Departments. Although nothing is allowed to get in the way of her Liverpool season ticket!
Adrian Rathbone
The world of antique and collecting began for Adrian at the age of 12 when as a young entrepreneur he started buying and selling. A holiday work placement at Richard Winterton’s firm prompted a move to study the subject at degree level at Southampton. Adrian returned to work for Richard Winterton as junior valuer in 1999. He has progressed to become an Associate and now heads the highly successful Fine Art and Collectors departments. Whilst Adrian has a general all round knowledge, specific interests include the fine and decorative arts from the nineteenth to twentieth century.
Adrian has also appeared on TV and undertakes many talks and charitable events throughout the Midlands.
Neil Grenyer (Consultant Valuer)
Neil began his studies with a degree in General Practice Surveying, which he followed with a degree in Fine Art Valuation at Southampton. He then spent five years in the Ceramics, Glass and Decorative Arts Dept. of Bonhams, London, where he developed his main interest in ceramics and glass. He moved to the Midlands with Bonhams and spent two years as a general valuer, before helping to establish and run a saleroom in the East Midlands. Neil joined Richard Winterton earlier this year as a consultant valuer. Along with his interest in ceramics and glass, Neil takes a keen interest in classic and vintage cars.
