Cake All Round

An antiques evening on 9th February organised by the ladies of Etchinghill Women’s Institute was a resounding success.  Organised as a surprise event for Mrs Dawson who is celebrating her 100th birthday.

Etchinghill Women’s Institute have always collaborated with the famous Midland’s auction family, the Wintertons in events of this type.  Adrian Rathbone, Associate of Richard Winterton Auctioneers was called upon to give a talk on life in the business and about items the members had brought in for appraisal.

It was a lively evening culminating in the valuation of a piece of Edward Duke of Windsor and the infamous Wallis Simpson’s wedding cake from the 1930’s.   Luckily refreshments came in for form of delicious fresh fairy cakes baked by the WI.
